Feeling Crafty

Now that I am graduated and don't have homework to come home to every night, I told Darrell that I needed a new hobby. I decided to make a fall wreath and then addiction set in. I made the great choice (or mistake) of joining Pinterest and it is definitely feeding to my addiction. I am an on-the-verge-craft-a-holic. I am definitely (and obviously, if you look at the pictures) still a beginner, but I am loving every minute of it. Here are some things I've made since the beginning of September...

A fall wreath using silk leaves
"Kelly" blocks for the top of our entertainment center
A Halloween wreath made from lima beans and then spray painted orange.
Toilet paper roll pumpkins! Seriously, a roll of toilet paper and some tissue paper. Can you guess which face Darrell made? Yes, the middle one. He was frustrated with this project and then decided he is not a fan of making crafts.
Candy corn cookies for our Sunday School class. I love baking things, but don't do it very often since it's just Darrell and I and I have low self-control when treats are in the apartment.
 Carved pumpkins!
It stands for "Kim" or "Kelly" depending on who you ask :)
Photo quality is not that great, but I just layered peas, kidney beans, and popcorn kernels and put a candle on top. I promise it looks better in real life :)

I just started working on some Christmas crafts tonight because I am so excited. I'm sure I'll post more pictures when all of those are done! Darrell now probably knows his way around Michael's more than he would like to admit, but he's a good sport and usually comes with me (maybe it's to make sure I don't go too crazy...)

A Day at the Zoo

Every year growing up, my family, cousins, and grandparents would all go to the Cleveland Zoo together. It was always a trip we looked forward to, so I told Darrell that we should make a trip to the Hogle Zoo in Salt Lake. The weekend that we picked to go ended up being really cold and a little rainy, but I remembered going to the zoo when it was colder growing up and the animals were always more active, so we decided to brave the weather anyways.  We were right! The animals did more than just lay around in their cages. I think my favorite was watching the rhino run back and forth through the mud. Here are some pictures from the day:

Darrell and I were just peacefully enjoying watching the monkeys and then..
BAM! All of the sudden this happened. It was so disgusting and funny all at the same time. Typical monkeys I guess.

T. Swift

I'm not the type of person who will usually go out and spend lots of money, but when my sweet in-laws gave me some money for graduation, I decided I wanted to buy something I wouldn't normally just go out and buy. I ended up deciding on the Taylor Swift concert, so I bought two tickets and invited my good friend Larlee to come with me. Two of our other old roommates, Emily and Ashley, were also going, so we ended up all going together and it was so much fun!

As if you couldn't tell by this picture, we were loving it!

Taylor even flew right over us!

It was fun to have a night with the girls and feel like I was a little girl again. I really felt like it was us and a bunch of teeny-boppers screaming their heads off. Taylor knows how to put on a good show though. Maybe next time I'll talk Darrell into coming with me. And a big THANK YOU to my in-laws for the tickets!
