St. George Weekend

I had been seeing lots of billboards along I-15 advertising "The Little Mermaid" broadway play at the Tuachan Amphitheater in St. George. I mentioned one time to Darrell that I thought it would be fun, so on my last day of classes as a college student, Darrell gave me a card with a coupon to go see it to celebrate my graduation!

So this was the big weekend for the trip. We were all set to go and had just gotten on the freeway when Darrell's car started making some weird noises. We pulled off to the side of the road and see one side of the plastic covering from under his car hanging down, almost touching the ground. Not good. We were so confused about what happened since we didn't hit anything (we later figured out that it was because Darrell had gotten his oil changed earlier in the day and they probably didn't screw the covering back on when they were done). We made it to the gas station where we were able to make-shift fix it with duct tape so we could make it back to our apartment and switch to my car..
Once we were back on the road, I figured it would be a good idea to call our hotel and confirm our reservations for the night. We had found a great deal on-line, but I wanted to double check to make sure the hotel knew we were coming. I'm glad I did because when I called they said they had no reservations for our name...and the hotel was way more expensive than we were planning on spending. Luckily we were able to figure something else out and we got a nice hotel booked!

When we got to St. George, we found a little BBQ restaurant called Troy's BBQ. It was SO good and so cute. It kind of reminded me of an old-fashioned diner. I love small town feel stuff!

After dinner, we made our way over to the theater and it was so beautiful.  The back drop was all red-rock.
Since the show was "The Little Mermaid," they had some really cool special effects using water to make it look like they were underwater. The show was SO good! Even Darrell had his eyes glued to the stage the whole time.
The next day we were planning on spending the day at Sand Hollow State park swimming and laying out, but when I looked up the directions on my phone, I saw that the water had invasive mussels and swimmer's itch, both of which do not sound appealing. So instead, we spent our day relaxing at the hotel in St. George. I was just happy to spend some time in the sun.
Darrell had to get back in touch with his masculine side after seeing "The Little Mermaid" by spending his time at the pool reading ESPN. One thing I have learned about this boy since we've been married is HOW MUCH he loves his sports. I knew he was a big fan, but I didn't realize how far that went. Reading/listening to/watching/playing sports.. he loves it all!

So even though our weekend plans didn't go quite according to plan, we still had a fun little trip together. I still can't believe I'm graduating from college!

Honeymoon!

Darrell & I were so lucky to be able to go on a dream vacation for our honeymoon. We choose the Sun Palace Resort in Cancun. It was an adult-only, couples-only all inclusive resort. And boy, did they spoil us! When we first arrived at the resort, we were greeted at the door and the bell boys gave me a flower.
This is our resort from the beach side:
And here's a picture of our super nice room
The resort had a deal going on where depending on the number of nights you stayed at the resort, you got a certain amount of credit points to use towards fun things, like:
Ziplining

Taking a boat ride to a beautiful island
 Snorkeling
Shopping in a little Mexican town
 Going to a water park
 and swimming with dolphins

Because we were honeymooners, we got the extra royal treatment, like:
chocolate cake delivered to our room
& a private dinner set up in our room

The resort also had nightly shows. Our favorite was the fire show!
There were several restaurants that we could choose from for all of our meals. Everything was delicious and we ate SO much!

Every night we got to put in our order for breakfast the next morning and what time we wanted it delivered to our room. We both fell in love with the butter croissants and fresh pineapple. SO delicious. We always ate our breakfast out on our balcony.

When we weren't out doing all of the excursions, we spent a lot of our time at the pool. The pools were so neat because they overlooked right onto the beach.

They also had games and stuff outside by the pool area. I won bingo!
The only thing we found that was lacking from our resort was ice cream. Darrell kept craving chocolate milkshakes, so they made one especially for him. He was so happy!
It really was the vacation of a lifetime & we absolutely loved it! I told Darrell I can't wait to go back for our one year anniversary, but maybe 10 or 25 is a little more realistic...

Wedding Reception

After getting married in Columbus and having a beautiful wedding luncheon down there, we made the trek back to Wadsworth for our reception that night. We had an outdoor reception at the Foutz home. It was so nice of them to let us have it there, and I know they worked hard to make their yard look great. Darrell & I were very happy with how everything went and had a lot of fun seeing everyone.
