I was lucky enough to get a couple days off from work, so Darrell and I were able to go to Niceville to celebrate Thanksgiving with his family. We got to see his parents, aunt and uncle, granny, and brother (for part of the time. We missed having him and his wife with us).
I wish I would have taken more pictures, but sadly I didn't! I stole a couple pictures from some other people though!
It was so nice to have a break from school and work. And of course, we were very spoiled!
We ate a lot, saw a couple of movies, played a lot of cards, ate a TON of delicious food, particularly Blue Bell Peppermint Ice Cream
went to the beach
(Darrell had just learned the NBA was coming back)!
and did I mention we ate a lot? There is this tiny, cute little restaurant in Niceville called Po'Folks. Judging by the picture, you can tell it is not good for you, but it is so delicious! True southern cooking. We went there when we were in Niceville over the summer and sometimes I would crave country-fried steak from Po'Folks, so I was glad we got to go there again.
Now, my mother-in-law will probably notice that I didn't mention shopping in that list. But that's because it deserves it's own section. Priscilla, Darrell, Nick (Darrell's best friend), and I decided to go Black Friday shopping starting at midnight. We went to the big outlet malls in Destin and it was so fun. It was crazy how many people were just walking around acting like it was the middle of the afternoon. We shopped at the outlets until about 3:00 in the morning. Oh, I forgot to mention that it was impossible to find a parking spot, so my mother-in-law dropped us off at The Gap so we could start shopping while she found a spot. At 3:00 when she and I were walking to the car together, I thought her choice of a place to park was so funny! On the sidewalk and over a cross walk at Panera Bread. We were both laughing so hard (but maybe it's because it was 3:00 in the morning...)
Once we sat down, sleepiness started to set in for me. Nick, however, was still a little more lively, so we went to a few more stores. We finally made it back to the Kelly's house at a little after 5 in the morning. We went to bed right away and woke up at about 11:00. Darrell and Nick went golfing and then played basketball with more of their high school friends while Priscilla and I went out to do even more shopping. We had a blast and gave a whole new meaning to "shop until you drop." Darrell and I both got a lot of new pretty things thanks to the Kelly's. An early Christmas for us!
We had such a fun time and were sad to come back. We're counting down until they come out in April for Darrell's graduation already!
