Graeagle, California

Darrell's Aunt Marlene and a couple of her friends own a "Cabin in the Pines" in Graeagle, California. She had been inviting Darrell to come visit the cabin ever since he has been at BYU and we figured we better take advantage of the opportunity to go before we move to the other side of the country. And we are so glad we did! It was such a fun trip filled with lots of relaxation, cards, and eating!
When we got up into the mountains, Marlene surprised us by giving us the keys to our very own cabin (more like house--it was so nice) for the long weekend. We were so surprised and excited!
Their cabin is in such a cute, tiny town. My favorite place was the little bakery.

Going over Memorial Day weekend, we were hoping for some warm weather, but got snow instead! I loved all the fires we had in the fireplace to keep us warm.

My favorite thing to do was ride the scooters around the little town. Everywhere we looked was so beautiful and I loved it. The pictures don't do it justice.

Graeagle has 100 different lakes! We only stopped at a few, but they were so pretty.

While we were there, the local volunteer fire station had a pancake breakfast. One of the fire trucks was  originally from Connecticut and was even used on 9/11.
(No, I'm not pregnant...)
We also went on some walks to help work off all of the delicious food we were eating. On one of the walks, we stopped at one of the golf courses and Darrell hit a bucket of balls. I also took a couple of shots, but it was my first time actually hitting some! It was such a beautiful looking course.

I'm not usually much of a dog person, but between Marlene and her friends who were all at the cabin, there were five dogs! They loved that I fed them.
We also helped Marlene rake up all of the pine needles in their yard because they are a fire hazard. I was blown away by how big the pine cones there were. I told Darrell he was lucky that we were moving cross country because I could do all kinds of crafts with those things!

We had such a great time and are hoping we get to visit Marlene, Janice, Jack, and Nona up at the "Cabin in the Pines" again! Thanks for such a fun weekend!
